6. Have a lively dinner conversation
Talking over dinner encourages us to eat slower. This helps our minds to perceive the nutrition before we go, “Oh, I need more!” Don’t have anyone to talk to? Be sure you’re putting all that food away (step 5) and going with the overall rule of keeping what is unhealthy out of sight. After dinner, move! Leave the kitchen. Go for an after dinner stroll. No matter what you do, don’t dish up more food until you’ve waited at least 15 minutes. Most of the time, you won’t even be hungry by then.
